Why can't we survive if we do not study?
that is a quote from episode 5 of 太陽と海の教室 I kind of don't understand what are we studying for too I mean with all these equations formulas and watnots Where am I going to use them? Am I to calculate the area of some building I see in the street? Am I supposed to use paul's wheel to analyse everything that a person tells me? To us studying all these makes no practical sense "I don't see the point of studying." - Hoi Man Exactly We don't see what we're studying for So we're not motivated to study 勉強は何のこと分からなくて 勉強できない If I do not know what I'm studying for, I am not able to study - 太陽と海の教室 But then 太陽と海の教室 told me an answer a possible answer Sound or not? We do not know but it sure makes more sense than what our teachers are telling us if they ever told us that is Now they can't even bother to tell us why we study. 俺にとて 勉強とは 宝探しの旅じゃないのか？ To me, studying is like the passage to find a treasure - 太陽と海の教室 想像してほら 一パセンとの宝物発見できた時こと 想像してほら ９９パセンと無駄な努力の先に 宝物はある 無駄な努力は無駄じゃないだ Think for a while, it takes 1% of your effort to find a treasure then think again, after that 99% of effort wasted, the treasure is right in front of you. In this case, your efforts are not wasted at all. - 太陽と海の教室 It becomes clear that the process of studying is like that efforts wasted to find a treasure But when we do find the treasure our efforts are not wasted anymore. It's like the pathway to find what you want to do in your own life though much of it won't be useful after you've found what you want to do. Also in the show the school is facing a problem The Ministry of Education assigned equal time to be spent on each compulsory subject Yet, the school's timetable is made such that more time is spent on examinable subjects and hence a lot of topics that the students need to learn are not taught The possibility that the students fail to graduate arises. Isn't it the same for us? Like CME time taken for studying and such Though it is not that bad as to prevent us from graduating but are we spending a bit too much time on certain things? We can't change anything but our own thinking Now that I know what studying can bring me I'll be working towards what I want. |
